MY FAVOURITE SHOPS FOR WORKOUT CLOTHES

Workout clothes are a somewhat trivial part of workout out but us girls can't help but become obsessed with adorable fitness gear. I have definitely developed some favourite stores for purchasing my workout clothes from and I wanted to share them with you whether you are on the hunt for new exercise clothing shops or have no idea where to start with your fitness journey.

Higher End
If you want to splash out and treat yourself to some luxe sportswear then these are my recommendations.
Nike never lets me down for on trend pieces that are still somewhat affordable. Adidas is similar to Nike but a bit more affordable. Both of these are available from their own stand alone stores or from Rebel Sport and Amart All Sports. Lorna Jane was a brand that I was extremely into a couple of years back but have since realised they are quite overpriced for their quality. Although they have some really cute gear, I would only recommend them when they have sales or deals going on.

Affordable
I can always count on Kmart for bargains when it comes to their workout gear. You are able to purchase leggings for $15 and tops for just $10. Target has also come good with some affordable long workout pants and tops. Big W always has a great range of Michelle Bridges workout clothing and they are often between $20-$40 a piece.

So whether you are looking for high end or affordable workout gear, you have many options to pick pieces that suit your personality and what kind of exercise you plan on doing. A good outfit can get you motivated and inspired to get out there and exercise, especially those with motivational sayings on the front.

WORKOUT SHOES - WHAT TO LOOK FOR / WHERE TO BUY FROM

I was recently on the hunt for a new pair of training shoes because the New Balance ones I has previously weren't giving me the support I needed. After scrolling through endless Pinterest worthy sneakers, I decided to not go by colour and design like I normally would and try on as many pairs as I could to decide which ones actually FIT nicely.

What to look for in workout shoes
So here is what to look or in your new workout shoes and the questions you should be asking yourself;
- Do these give the arch of my foot enough support or do I feel a strain in my arch? If so, look for a shoe with more support.
- Are these too narrow and are pinching my foot? If so, the shape of the shoe is not for you and keep looking.
- Is there a bit of room left at the top or are my toes being squished in? If they are too tight, go up in size.

Where to buy workout shoes from
I finally came across my perfect pair (pictured above), and it was a bonus that they were super cute and would match any workout outfit that I put them with.

From my experience this time around I can say I have developed a few favourite brands for workout shoes. They are; Nike, New Balance and Adidas. So I guess the three big ones, but there is a reason they are so popular and that is the quality is fantastic. For a large selection of all three brands; check out a store such as Rebel Sports or Amart All Sports.

Trust me, they are definitely worth investing in because those $12 ones from Rubi Shoes are not going to cut it and you will regret it when you are mid exercise and start feeling the pain in your feet.

THE BEST HEALTHY RECIPES OF JORDYSCOOKING - CELEBRATING 20K SUBSCRIBERS

So recently I hit 20,000 subscribers on my cooking channel...now to me that is absolutely insane! Mainly because I started my cooking channel well after I started my beauty channel and for it to surpass my beauty channel in such a short amount of time blows my mind. Despite not being around for very long I feel like my cooking channel has changed in so many ways as I have grown as a person and my lifestyle has transformed. I started by putting up dessert recipes covered in sugar and chocolate but soon found my way to healthy snack ideas and meal prepping tutorials.

I wanted to put this post up on not only my JordysCooking blog but also my JordysFitness blog because I feel like my Jordy's Cooking channel sparked the inspiration for Jordy's Fitness because with the healthy recipes began my love for fitness and exercise too. So much so that I needed to create a whole separate blog for all the healthy recipes and fitness tips.

Without getting too mushy, I wouldn't be where I am today without starting my cooking channel because it expanded my horizons to health and fitness which without I wouldn't be as fulfilled as I am now. I also turned vegetarian between starting this channel and now which comes down to me being inspired (by starting this channel) to find out more about where food comes from and all about nutrition.

So in celebration of reaching such an amazing milestone, here are my top five favourite recipes from Jordy's Cooking, all of which are pretty recent because I feel like I've never been creating as good content as I am now.

You want to know the best part about creating these recipes for you? It was seeing all of YOUR pictures sent in of you recreating my recipes. I loved creating all these new and different healthy dinner/snack/lunch ideas because I knew that some of you would give them a go and be eating a healthy and nutritious meal.

Now here's to another 20k subscribers because I know that I will be making cooking videos for a long time to come.

DO YOU HAVE A MORNING ROUTINE? A GUIDE TO RISING EARLY AND STARTING THE DAY PRODUCTIVELY

Forget the saying waking up on the wrong side of the bed; the bigger issue is sleeping in and I'm going to tell you why. Waking up on the wrong side of the bed refers to being in a bad state due to the way you woke up but really the only reason you would be angry in the mornings is if you slept in and had to rush out of your house. Rising early allows you to start out your day positively and productively resulting in a happy morning and better day.

My inspiration for this article came from a lot of you who are currently undertaking my 5 Day Detox, 7 Day Guide and Beach Body Program who have been struggling with fitting in the morning workouts. A lot of you have been combining the morning and afternoon workouts into one, which is fine if that is what you have found works for you, but there shouldn't be any reason you can't find time in the morning and hopefully this article will help you.

My Experience
Up until a couple of years ago I would sleep in at any opportunity given and as late as I could. The early starts only began when I started being assigned the morning shift at the Bakery I was working at which consisted of waking up at 4:30am to get to work at 5am. In doing so I realised the benefits of getting up early of which I get into later in this article but it really did change my mindset and inspire me to start my day off right which ultimately meant rising earlier.

The Truth About Sleeping-in
It's so easy to hit the snooze and let it take up our getting ready time before work or use the weekend as an excuse to sleep until noon. However, the truth of the matter is that those extra minutes (on work days) or hours (on weekends) of sleep are of less benefit to you than if you were to get up and going. Hitting snooze and sleeping for an extra 20 minutes is an absolutely useless practice because once you wake from your deep sleep, anything on top of that is really not of any benefit to you. I do believe in using the weekends as wind down time and taking a couple of hours extra sleep but don't let it take up your whole precious weekend by waking up at noon when the day is half over.

Morning Routine
One of the major benefits that resulted from waking up earlier was forming a morning routine and therefore starting the day off productively, something those who sleep in do not get the pleasure of. What I mean by morning routine is having the time to brew a coffee, make a proper breakfast, exercise, plan out your day and then take your time getting ready rather than rush around slapping on makeup and hopping into clothes. I highly recommend adopting some sort of morning ritual as it creates some sort of logical order to your day and in the words of Aristotle "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

To give you some inspiration I am going to briefly outline my morning routine as an example of what yours could be. This is pretty much how I start my day every single morning and I feel like it helps me achieve more, increases my positivity and results in productivity. I also very briefly touch on my morning routine in this article written back in June.

First stop is the kitchen where I will make my morning coffee before heading into the office to drink it while checking emails. Then I proceed to get changed into workout gear for some yoga a bit of cardio on my treadmill followed by a shower. By this time I am pretty hungry so will make up some breakfast which is usually one of two things; a two egg tomato and parsley omelette with avocado on the side or Greek yoghurt and homemade muesli. Afterwards I spend the next half hour to forty minutes in my beauty room putting my face of makeup on and dressing myself for the day. Then I head out the door completely relaxed, fulfilled and rejuvenated; ready to face the day.

As you can see, I slip in my morning exercise pretty much straight after I wake up so if you are currently doing my 5 Day Detox, 7 Day Guide or Beach Body Program then this is when I recommend fitting in your morning workout.

Now that is the ritual the works for me but everyone is different and you have to find your own rhythm; the series of actions that increases your positivity and productivity. I recommend trying a few things out and seeing how you go. If you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask as I would love to help in any way possible. Also if you do already have a morning routine then give me the jist of it in a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Q&A: WHICH IS WORSE? CALORIES, FATS OR CARBS?

So ever since "Jordy's Fitness 7 Day Guide" was released, I have been receiving a lot of emails asking questions about everything health and fitness related so I have decided to start a "Q&A" series. This first question is all about which is worse; calories, fats or carbs? Which of the three should I stay away from most? It's a tricky and complicated topic but I have tried to make the answer quite simple.

INTERVIEW WITH TEISHA LOWRY, OWNER OF "INDAH" COCONUT OIL

"INDAH" is a deluxe range of all natural and purely organic body care, fragrances and virgin coconut oil started in 2008 by the inspirational Australian, Teisha Lowry! What really interests me the most from INDAH is their Extra Virgin Coconut Oil because about a month ago I wrote all about the benefits of coconut oil as an amazing super food. The "INDAH" coconut oil really appealed to me as it is hand pressed, organic, completely natural and extra virgin. I had the opportunity to ask the beautiful Teisha some questions all about her coconut oil, philosophy on health and fitness, tips for girls wanting to achieve the same as her and of course "INDAH". So keep reading to find out more about this gorgeous girl and her incredible company.
