MEAT SUBSTITUTE REVIEW: LINDA MCCARTNEY MUSHROOM PIES

So I am back with another meat substitute review, this time I will be reviewing a range that I have never tried before from Linda McCartney. Due to the large amount of pastry contained in pies, they definitely aren't healthy but back when I ate meat I liked to have them as a treat (what kind of Aussie would I be if I didn't eat pies at least every once in a while) so was excited to find a meat free replacement with mushroom, ale and lentil filling.

Taste:
I have tried one other vegetarian pie before and I didn't like it to say the least so I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious these ones turned out to be. I loved the mixture of mushroom and lentils in a gravy style sauce and the pastry was really delicious also.

Serving:
I was really lazy and just ate it on it's own but you could serve this a salad or mashed vegetables.

Nutritional Value:
Serving Size: 1 Pie
Calories: 435
Protein: 12g
Fat: 24g (10g saturated)
Carbs: 50 (4g sugar)
Fibre: 3g
Sodium: 500mg
* Very high in calories mainly due to the fat in the pastry. Definitely not the healthiest option but then again pies never are, so definitely leave this for a treat every once in a while.

Price:
It's $8 for pack that contains 2 pies so it's similarly priced to meat pies but maybe a little bit more expensive.

Overall I think these are the perfect replacement for meat pies, not only is it cruelty free but it's also super delicious. After being sort of scared to try out another vegetarian pie after hating the previous one I had, I am so glad I did because these are delicious!
