I confess! I am indeed an extreme coffee addict. You know, the kind of person where their life just about falls apart when they miss their morning coffee. Guilty. However, for the past month or so I have been trying to curb my caffeine cravings by replacing my coffee some mornings with a green smoothie and it's actually been working. Not only have I been able to control my caffeine addiction but I'm also getting so many extra nutrients through these green smoothies; it's a win-win. So I thought that it would be rude not to share with you all my favourite green smoothie recipe that way you can give it a go to start your mornings off right, like I have been attempting to of late.
Ingredients:
1 Frozen Banana
Handful of Spinach
1 Tbsp. Spirulina
1 Tbsp. LSA Meal
1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds
1/2 cup fruit (I used rockmelon in the one featured above)
Simply chuck all of the ingredients into a blender/Vitamix/Ninja/food processor, what have you, and then blend away. Pour into a mason jar, tall glass or whatever your preference.
There you have it...a quick and easy breakfast that's nutritious and keeps you away from the coffee cups. However, if you feel so inclined to use a coffee cup then go right ahead but make sure you pour in this green juice and not a cappuccino ;)
