So if you weren't aware, avocado is actually a superfood! It's crazy to think that something I eat almost every single day is actually considered food that's super. I'm really glad though because I do eat such vast quantities of these magical things!
What is Avocado?
Okay so this one is pretty obvious because unlike most other superfoods we have had a look at, this is something we use on a regular basis and don't even have to venture into a health food store to get! Believe it or not an avocado is actually a fruit, a berry to be exact, and originated in Mexico.
What are the benefits?
* So we probably all know how avocados are packed full of healthy fats so that is one of the major health benefits. Containing high amounts of essential fatty amino acids, about 70% of an avocado's energy comes from the monounsaturated fat.
* Rich in vitamins such as C, K, B6, E and folic acid.
* Very good source of dietary fiber.
* Avocados have nearly 40% more potassium than bananas do.

What does it taste like? How do you eat it?
Avocado is seriously one of a kind so when it comes to describing the taste, it's difficult. Some say it's got a buttery or creamy flavour while other say it has a light pistachio flavour. You can add avocado to pretty much anything; salads, sandwiches, wraps, by itself, turned into guacamole and eating with corn chips and you can even make desserts such as avocado chocolate mousse out of them.
Is it worth it?
Considering you can get such great deals on avocados such as 2 for $5, it's definitely one of the most affordable super foods that we have looked at and certainly worth it.
